Jackie Von Maltitz

As Director: International Development at SEF, Jackie is responsible for developing and growing SEF’s presence in the international market through the establishment of proactive partnerships with clients and the development of a strong multi-disciplinary team. Jackie holds a Masters degree in Zoology from Rhodes University. Over the last seven years she has been responsible for coordinating and conducting environmental management projects, including environmental and social impact assessments, for a wide range of projects that include residential and mixed use developments, infrastructure development, alternative energy projects and large-scale mining. Jackie is an experienced project manager with an extensive knowledge of project administration and planning and compilation of reports to both national and international standards. Jackie has worked in many African countries which include Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique and South Africa.

There is nothing more exciting than the challenges of working in Africa.

Kanya Middleton

As Director: Business Development, Kanya will be using her passion for people to build sustainable relationships. Kanya is a GIS and Remote Sensing Specialist who received a Masters in Environment from the University of Waterloo. She has over six years’ experience in the mining and environmental sectors. Her extensive knowledge and capabilities in the field of GIS and remote sensing are highlighted throughout her career, from mapping wetlands in Kosi Bay and St. Lucia, to developing remote sensing algorithms for mapping erosion in Kwazulu-Natal, and mapping governmental voting divisions in Ontario, Canada. Kanya is charismatic individual who enjoys having fun on the job!

Byron Grant

Byron Grant is a Project Manager and Aquatic Specialist at SEF, and has more than nine years’ experience in the consulting industry as a specialist. He holds a Master’s Degree in Aquatic Health from the Rand Afrikaans University, is registered as a Professional Natural Scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions, and has been accredited with the Department of Water Affairs as a River Health Programme practitioner since 2005.

Byron’s professional career has been focused on providing guidance and specialist advice to various national and international sectors including environmental consultants, mining, industry and government with regards to biodiversity and the aquatic environment, while his passion for aquatic ecosystem management has resulted in him providing specialist input into a number of national and provincial initiatives and policies.

Natalie Ritsch

Natalie is a Regional Project Manager at SEF, and is responsible for the management of the Cape Town Regional office. Natalie holds a Master Degree in Botany from the University of Cape Town, as well as a BComm Honours Degree in Business Administration from the University of the Western Cape. She is also registered as a Professional Natural Scientist with SACNASP. She started her career with the environmental department in the Western Cape where she was responsible for reviewing of application, representing the department on various committees, as well as assisting with developing and commenting on legislation and departmental policies. Natalie has also developed her project management experience over the last few years and has managed a broad range of projects across the country.

Carene Kruger

Carene is a project manager at SEF and has extensive experience in municipal infrastructure projects, large and small scale commercial developments, housing developments and environmental master planning projects. Carene has more than seven years’ experience within the environmental sector including working within the waste sector in the United Kingdom and being involved in various sustainability projects in Mozambique (Chimio and Manjacaze Districts). Carene holds a B.Sc Hons (Geography) obtained from the University of Johannesburg in 2005. Her core expertise relates to environmental impact assessment processes, facilitating appeal processes, undertaking pre-feasibility studies, waste applications and environmental opinions. Carene has a keen interest in environmental risk work and how companies can manage their environmental liability by applying sound sustainability principles throughout their business practice and projects.

Lize Blignaut

As the Administrative Manager, Lize is managing the office routine such as overseeing and ensuring that the support administrative functions of the organisation are effectively carried out. Lize has fourteen years’ experience in the office administration environment and is also responsible for maintaining and revising the office policies and procedures in terms of the Quality Management System.
