New Appointment – Principle: Social Specialist Division

SEF recently appointed Jessica de Beer to its team of professionals as the Principle of our Social Sciences division. Jessica is a qualified Social Assessment Practitioner holding a BSocsci (Hons) Industrial Sociology and Labour Studies postgraduate degree from the University of Pretoria. Jessica has been involved in social assessment work since 2004 working on a range of social assignments both as a junior researcher in the initial days up to her current role as a lead social scientist on most projects. Jessica’s key experience lies in both the consultation and drafting of operation specific Social & Labour Plans and Social Impact Assessment. As such, this has provided her with an excellent understanding of the social implications of continued growth in, more specifically, the mining sector. Before joining Strategic Environmental Focus, Jessica had been working on various social projects both within South Africa and Africa (e.g. Angola and Lesotho) as a Social Specialist.
